How to Compress Product Images for AliExpress
You're building an AliExpress listing and the platform refuses your main image because it's over the size limit. AliExpress caps each product image at 5 MB, and a high-resolution studio or phone shot frequently exceeds that. Here's how to bring it under the limit without losing the detail buyers need to zoom in.
How to compress an AliExpress product image with QuickWand
- Open the free image compressor and drop in your product photos.
- Lower the Quality slider to around 80-85% and watch the live size estimateunder each file until it's comfortably under 5 MB.
- If the photo is very large, use Resize → Max size to cap the longest side at around
1200px. Keep it at least 800 x 800 px and ideally square (1:1) for the main image. - Keep the output format as JPG for photos (or PNG if you need transparency).
- Click Download all (.zip) to export your full set of listing images at once.
AliExpress's real image requirements
- Maximum file size: 5 MB per image (JPEG or PNG).
- Minimum dimensions: 800 x 800 px for main images.
- Aspect ratio: 1:1 (square) is ideal; 1:1 to 1:1.3 is accepted, displaying well on both mobile and PC.
- Formats: JPEG and PNG.
- Content images: in-description images run from a minimum of 750 x 360 px up to a maximum of 2000 x 2000 px.
Why 5 MB is easy to hit once you resize
AliExpress's 5 MB cap sounds generous, but it's the raw megapixel count that pushes files over. A 4000 px-wide photo at full quality can be 8-12 MB. Resizing the longest side down toward 1200 px — which is still far above AliExpress's 800 px minimum — usually drops the file under 5 MB before you even touch the quality slider.
If your source photo is an iPhone .heicfile, AliExpress won't accept it — run it through the HEIC to JPG converter first. And a heavy PNG photo will shrink sharply once you convert it with the PNG to JPG converter.
